Katie St. Pierre is the Director of Orchestras at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, VA. This is her first year as a full-time teacher at W-L. Mrs. St. Pierre spent the 2008-2009 academic year in the Arlington School District, teaching orchestra at Washington-Lee High School, Williamsburg Middle School and Ashlawn Elementary. Prior to relocating to Virginia, Mrs. St. Pierre taught instrumental and general music in Avon and Hartford, CT.
Mrs. St. Pierre is a graduate of The Hartt School at the University of Hartford, West Hartford, Connecticut, earning a Bachelors of Music, Cum Laude. She is currently studying for her Masters Degree at Capital University, Columbus, Ohio.
In addition to teaching in the public schools, Mrs. St. Pierre offers
private lessons, specializing in strings and piano. She is an active member of the American String Teachers Association, and holds the position of Newsletter Editor for the Virginia Chapter. Mrs. St. Pierre also belongs to MENC (Music Educators National Conference).
A violist, Mrs. St. Pierre currently performs with the McLean Orchestra
in Virginia and the Elegy Orchestra in Washington D.C. Previously, she
performed with the Wallingford Symphony Orchestra, Eastern Connecticut
Symphony Orchestra, the New Britain Symphony, and the West Hartford
Symphony in Connecticut. In 2006, Mrs. St. Pierre performed as a guest
alumna with the Bay Youth Orchestras of Virginia at the Edinburgh Fringe
Festival in Scotland. Mrs. St. Pierre has also performed with the
Yokosuka Symphony Orchestra in Japan, and the National Festival
Orchestra, under the direction of Conductor Lukas Foss, at Carnegie
Hall.
Katie St. Pierre resides in Alexandria, Virginia, with her husband,
Nathan, her two cats (Talkee and Lily), and her two turtles (Theo and
Abi).
